How to find usHoliday Inn Express - Edinburgh City Centre is located within a Georgian listed building off Picardy Place roundabout. The hotel can be found near the East End of Princes Street, across the street from the Omni Centre and Edinburgh Playhouse Theatre.Please follow the directions below if you intend on checking on parking availability at the hotel or if you are dropping luggage off at the hotel. If you are parking your car in the NCP Omni Centre / Greenside Row follow the brown tourist board signs for 'Omni'. The entrance to the car park is located off Leith Street.Approaching from Glasgow M8 / Edinburgh Airport Stay on the A8 following signs for Edinburgh. At the West End of Princes Street you will be unable to continue along Princes Street. Just past McDonald's turn left on to South Charlotte Street. Continue straight ahead passing Charlotte Sqaure on your left and George Street on your right. At the bottom of the road, turn right at the final set of traffic lights on to Queen Street. Queen Street runs parallel behind Princes Street and George Street. Continue along Queen Street leading on to York Place. Georgian stone buildings will be on your right side and Queen Street Gardens will be on your left side. Turn left on to Picardy Place just before the Picardy Place Roundabout. Approaching from the North on the M90 / A90 Stay on the A90 until you cross over the Water of Leith on the Dean Bridge. At the next set of traffic lights turn left on to the cobbled crescent street leading to Great Stuart Street. Follow the flow of traffic on to Queen Street. Continue along Queen Street leading on to York Place. Georgian stone buildings will be on your right side and Queen Street Gardens will be on your left side. Turn left on to Picardy Place just before the Picardy Place Roundabout. Approaching from the South on the A1 Follow signs for Edinburgh A1 and then turn towards London Road (B1350). Continue along London Road with Calton Hill located on your left. Turn left at the end of London Road - The Playhouse Theatre will be on your left side as you approach the Picardy Place Roundabout. In order to gain access to Picardy Place -turn right at the roundabout and then immediately right at the traffic lights right feader lane. NO RIGHT TURN ACCESS TO PICARDY PLACE. Continue down Broughton Street until the next roundabout and turn around at this roundabout and drive back up Broughton Street in the direction that you have just travelled. At the traffic lights turn left on to Picardy Place (slip road). Approaching from the South on the A7 (from Southbridge) Continue travelling north on the A7 and cross over the Royal Mile on to Northbridge. Northbridge links the Old Town to the New Town. The Balmoral Hotel will be located directly on your left side. At the first set of traffic lights at the end of Northbridge turn right and then at the next set of traffic lights take an immediate left on to Leith Street - HMV Music Store and the St James Shopping Centre will be on your left side. Go straight ahead at the traffic lights. At the Picardy Place roundabout turn left and then immediate right at the traffic lights. NO RIGHT TURN ACCESS TO PICARDY PLACE. Continue down Broughton Street until the next roundabout and turn around at this roundabout and drive back up Broughton Street in the direction that you have just travelled. At the traffic lights turn left on to Picardy Place (slip road). Arriving at Edinburgh Waverely Railway Station Take a taxi to the hotel if you are travelling with large items of luggage and this will cost around £3 - £4. If you intend walking with light luggage, please note that this route involves a set of steps across a railway bridge. Follow the exit signs for 'Calton Road' Exit. Cross over the footbridge to exit the station and then walk slightly uphill on Calton Road (under the large bridge). At the end of Calton Road you will reach Leith Street with the John Lewis Department Store on your left side. The hotel is located on the north side of Picardy Place roundabout and can be accessed via the pedestrain crossing from near the Omni Centre. The walk should take around 10 minutes. Arriving at St Andrews Sqaure Bus Station Follow exit signs for York Place. When leaving the station turn right at the main set of traffic lights and you will now be on York Place. Continue along York Place for less than 1/4 mile until you reach the Conan Doyle Pub. Cross over the pedestrain crossing on to Picardy Place. The hotel is located at the end of Picardy Place on the left side. The walk should take less than 10 minutes. |
